*Abacaxi Obrigado is the joke between us. Marcos Breder thought it is good saying this phrase for defending from strangers in Brazil, because of decent pronaunciation of me speaking Abacaxi(pineapple) and Obrigado(thank you) in portuguese. We start using this phrase a lot in everyday.

Estação Limoeiro, 2007

This video shows part of the construction phase of Estação Limoeiro project. A product that may be defined as a leisure station; it is opposite to a work station. It talks about friendship, about a nice chat by the lemon tree in a summer afternoon with good music. It was born through a careless drawing (which can also be seen in this space), and mainly through the help of two talented designing friends, Geraldo Coelho and Otto Henrique. Thank you very much to them!

Este vídeo mostra parte da etapa de construção do projeto Estação Limoeiro. Um produto que pode ser definido como uma estação de lazer, em oposição à uma estação de trabalho. Fala sobre a amizade, sobre uma boa conversa à sombra de um limoeiro numa tarde de verão, ao som de boa música. Nasceu através de um desenho “descompromissado” (que pode ser visto também neste espaço) e, principalmente, através do auxílio de dois talentosos amigos-designers, Geraldo Coelho e Otto Henrique. À eles, meu muito obrigado!

methodology

The methodology utilized at the Estudio Breder is based mainly on the freedom of creation through drawing. Many of the solutions, for a specific project or a new concept of use or utilization of a new material come up in this phase. The creation moment through drawing can occur in several places. One of the most inspiring moments is the professor meetings at FUMEC University due to the duration of the meetings and the discussion of several themes (and off course, at a design school the drawings are very welcome, even at a professor meeting). Some of these drawings will be shown in this space; they were conceived during theses meetings and during other ones too. Some of these drawings have already presented a kind of “product in the air sensation”, and some others are just random artistic manifestations (but not less important). Several drawing techniques are utilized, some using pasting and some using other interventions. Most of the drawings are made using just a black pen and couche paper.

A metodologia utilizada no Estudio Breder se baseia muito na liberdade de criação através do desenho. Muitas das soluções para determinado projeto ou uma nova concepção de uso ou de utilização de materiais, surgem nessa etapa. Esse momento, da criação através do desenho, pode ocorrer em diversos lugares. Um dos lugares de maior “inspiração” são as reuniões de professores da universidade FUMEC, dado aos diversos temas tratados e o tempo de duração das reuniões (e, claro, numa escola de design, os desenhos são muito bem vindos, mesmo em uma reunião de professores). Neste espaço estarão alguns desses desenhos, concebidos durante essas e outras reuniões. Alguns já apresentam um “cheiro de produto no ar”, outros, apenas manifestações artísticas “descompromissadas” (mas nem por isso, menos importantes). São utilizadas diversas técnicas de desenho, alguns com colagens e ou outras intervenções. A maioria valendo-se, apenas, de uma caneta preta e um papel couchè.

The city of São João del-Rei produces the only pewter in Brazil. Its quality is recognized worldwide. The largest number of shops is concentrated here, and the most highly skilled pewter artisans in all of Latin America are trained locally. There are ancient records of metal mines in the region and of incipient pewter artifacts back to the 19^th century. However, it was the vision of pioneer John Somers that definitely put the name of São João del-Rei on the pewter map as of 1968, as well as in international pewter artistry catalogues. In the beginning, his production was inspired in original English and Portuguese pewter models, replicas of models that the antique collector gathered from all over the world, which today make up a magnificent museum in his namesake. It was in this true school of arts and crafts that the vast majority of artists and artisans were trained, which today produces the world-famous pewter of São João del-Rei. download catalogue (part 3)
