Manufacturing factories, a number of special stores etc… They are all places where we visited to experiment for our products and its processing after I came to estudio breder. Brazil is one of the most developing countries in the world economically, also has a great land and a lot of minerals. I realized through the field experience of out side of office, they produce stuff from own country, thus there are so many possibilities and access to make products in a city in Brazil. We are observing, touching, smelling and hearing by ourselves in here to producing design objects and considering about user experience as well. It is difficult to find all the manufactuaring process from the first step to the final in U.S. or Japan. (I guessed) I am experiencing the total production of "Industria Brasileira"!!

商品生産工場や数多くの専門店、これらはすべて、スタジオへのデザインの参考と、生産のために訪れた場所です。ブラジルは今世界の中で経済的にもっとも発展してきている国のひとつであり、さらに壮大な土地と、資源を持っています。そんな国の大都市は、商品を作るための沢山の機会や可能性にあふれ、自分たちで見て、触って、においをかいで、聞いて、使い手の身になって、その時人は、どのように感じるかを自分たちで感じることができます。日本や、ほかの国のように、ほかの土地で作られたものをみて、視察ではなく、この場でモノづくりを行っているのです。これこそ、ほんとうの"industria Brasileira"だ！！

researching day

What kind of material can find in a down town? What kind of things can we do with it? Few days ago, we did the `researching day´ to answer those questions... Colors, shapes, textures! Different sensations explore new ways of product development. Looking for a new manner to do old things using everyday materials. And it´s not only about `material discovering´, but also watching ourselves; our capacity to find out an unexpected way to be creative. One of the researched places was the`Mercado Central´ (central market), a very 'spiced place' where sensations get mixed. Here are some photos about it.

Outro dia andava pelo supermercado (raramente com a intenção de comprar, muitas vezes fazendo 'pesquisas') quando me deparei com uma considerável pilha de vassouras. Mas não eram vassouras quaisquer, eram todas verde-amarelas! Não resisti... aqui está um detalhe daquele 'jardim' de fios plasticos....

Another inspiring way of doing research is the photography. The capture of unique moments under the look of the photographer represent of the pillars of the creation, not only for their graphic design but also for the design of products. Several pictures taken at different moments will be presented here: during the execution of a prototype, a detail of a machine or the texture of a new material. Always with the objective to extract the poetry and the beauty of each moment with the look of the design or the designer as you wish.

Outra forma inspiradora de pesquisa é a fotografia. A captação de momentos únicos e sob o olhar do fotografo representam um dos pilares da criação também para o design de produtos (e não somente para o design gráfico). Aqui também serão apresentadas algumas fotografias tiradas em diversos momentos: durante a execução de um protótipo, um detalhe de uma máquina ou a textura de um novo material. Sempre com o intuito de extrair a poesia e a beleza de cada momento, sob a ótica do design ou do designer, como queira.

Abstract

Furniture industry is one of the most important sectors all over the world and Brazil is not an exception. However, Brazilian exports are shy if compared to other sectors and this seems to be mainly due to some deficiencies in the areas of Design and Technology, specially by raw materials and the manufacturing processes. However, an increasing awareness in the use of natural resources has uncovered new horizons for this sector, being polymers the focus of this thesis. Review of literature in Material Engineering and Design supported the gathering of information related to the plastic furniture domestic industry as well as its raw materials, history and its world market performance (import and export). The evolution of productive process and raw material, along with the designer’s inventive capacity, proved to be the greatest drivers for the appearance of new products in the world market. Despite this fact, domestic industry presents a passive condition and has chosen to reproduce products widely used in other countries since the 1970s. To validate the issues raised, a product which uses materials and manufacturing processes familiar to the domestic industry in this sector was developed as part of this thesis. This applied research, which has an interaction between scholarship and market, along with the information about the sector are the academic contributions to the areas of Material Engineering and Design.

Dissertação de mestrado sobre a indústria de móveis de plástico no Brasil. Apresenta, como comprovação das viabilidades para a este setor industrial, a de uma cadeira em polipropileno com 20% de fibra de vidro.
